Lift-Rite have been back to the High Level Bridge in Gateshead (one of the seven magnificent bridges over the Tyne) to carry out load testing of the maintenance access gantries to BS 6037-2, which are located under each of the six spans.
Logistically challenging, we used ‘sausage’ water bags to apply the load and carried our own water supply to safely and efficiently complete the testing with minimum disruption to the public. Following consultation with Port of Tyne, and the local water and council authorities, we released the water straight into the river, eliminating the challenge of recovering weight back onto the road level of the bridge.
