Lift-rite Engineering Services has just completed a series of umbilical assembly installation tests on components destined for installation off the coast of Africa.
Lift-rite were initially approached to design and build a test arrangement that could hold a replica of the already installed I tube and allow the planned installation forces to be replicated at various angles whilst the sample umbilical assembly was pulled through. The final test arrangement was over 13m high and allowed pull through forces of up to 60te whilst maintaining a constant back tension of up to 33te on the umbilical assembly.
